REVERIE x BEFORE I FORGET

You don’t need a reason to document this part of your life — just a feeling that you might want to come back to it someday.

Before I Forget is for the in-between moments we often skip over: friendship that feels like family, softness after survival, quiet strength in the middle of change. This is a chance to be seen. To remember. To hold a version of yourself before you shift again.

A slower kind of seeing. A softer kind of remembering.

This theme is about honoring the quiet truths, the versions of you that exist between milestones, beneath the surface, or in moments too fleeting to name. Every session is shot entirely on 35mm film — a slower, more intentional process that mirrors the heart of this work. There’s no instant preview, no chance to redo. Just trust, presence, and the beauty of letting things unfold exactly as they are. These images aren’t about perfection. They’re about feeling. A record of now, before it slips into then.

This is for anyone who’s felt time speeding up. For the ones who’ve outgrown old versions of themselves, or are just starting to come home to who they really are. This is for the seasons that rarely make it into photo albums — the slow shifts, the quiet closings, the subtle ways you’ve grown. It’s for anyone who wants to slow down for a minute, to see themselves clearly, and to keep a piece of this moment before it fades.

The Session Experience

These sessions are designed to move slowly and intentionally — no rush, no pressure. We’ll shoot on 35mm film and Polaroids, letting the process unfold at its own pace. Mini sessions typically take about 30 minutes in the studio, while extended sessions may last closer to an hour. But there’s no stopwatch here — just room to be present.

You’ll have the option to shoot at my natural light studio in the Fan, where a variety of backdrops and set-ups are available, or outdoors at a nearby location within Richmond, depending on availability and vibe. You’re welcome to bring outfit changes, meaningful objects, props, or people you want to share space with.

Ahead of your session, I’ll send you a short list of journal prompts — questions meant to bring you into the present and help you connect with what you want to remember about this version of yourself. You can write your answers down or simply carry them with you. If you feel called to share any part of your reflection, you’ll also have the option to submit it for possible inclusion in the collaborative Reverie zine for this theme.

This isn’t about getting it “right.” It’s about showing up. As you are. Before it all shifts again.

What is REVERIE?

A creative portrait project started in 2022. Reverie has seen many different iterations and continues to evolve each round. The project is about more that just photography for me, it’s a way to push myself as an artist, to challenge how I see and create, to break out of routine and to discover new ways of capturing people and stories. Every round, I get inspired by a new theme—sometimes a color, an emotion, or a complex concept which becomes a creative playground for both of us.

And for you? It’s an invitation.

An invitation to see yourself differently. To embody something you may not have before. To think deeper on why you’re creating images and why. To create something to remember for years to come. To play, to feel, to explore. Each session is a chance to create something unique, cinematic, and deeply personal—together.

REVERIE ZINE

This project has always been about stepping into something unexpected, about capturing a feeling, a moment, a story. When I came back to Reverie in 2025, I decided to add on a new aspect of the project.

Each theme, the images we create together take on another form—a limited-edition zine. A documentation of something fleeting. Each zine is an intimate reflection of the theme, blending portraiture and art with reflections on the theme, poetry, storytelling and more.

For those who step into each theme of REVERIE, the zine is my gift to you—a thank-you for being part of the process, for trusting me with your presence, for bringing your unique energy into the frame. Your image becomes part of a larger narrative, woven into the pages.

This summer, we’re exploring the present in “Before I Forget”— slow film sessions that are part portrait, part memory keeping. I’ll send each participant a list of journal questions they can answer before or after our session if they’d like some of their thoughts and memories to be included in this theme’s zine.

 FAQs

  • My turn around time for these sessions will be about 3-4 weeks due to the slow nature of film. All 35mm film will be developed and scanned by the pros at my favorite film lab, Indie Film Lab. All polaroids will be scanned by me + sent back to you after scanning is complete.

Expect to get your full gallery around no more than 4 weeks after our shoot together.

  • Bring a friend, bring a lover, bring a child, bring a pet or just bring yourself. Whomever you bring can be there just as a hype-person or can hop in some shots with you, the more the merrier :)

  • I’ve tried really hard over my career to offer accessible pricing when and where I can. I want this project to succeed + not burn me out, so my session pricing is as low as I want to go, especially this round with the added cost of film, development and scanning.

However, if pricing is an obstacle:

You can split a session with a friend and still get a good amount of photos each, dropping the cost per person for you.

You’re also welcome to reach out about a trade. I don’t accept all trades, but if you have a service/craft or reasonable trade offer I may be able to make something work!

  • I have a strict 24 hr cancellation policy - if you need to cancel or reschedule your shoot, you MUST let me know more than 24 hrs before in order to not be charged.

All bookings will require a 50% deposit to hold your spot - you can choose to pay at full when booking or just pay your deposit to hold your spot. If you no show, or cancel within the 24 hr window of your session, you will lose your full deposit, no exceptions. I appreciate you valuing my time as much as I value yours!

If you have to cancel more that 24 hrs before your session, we can either reschedule for another date (even for a future month) or I can offer you a refund, minus processing fees.
